Our Mission

To spark a revolution in sports education by putting real-time 3D motion analysis into the hands of athletes and coaches

10,000 Hours Inc. and the TLM (Tennis Learning Machine) Reports, like most innovations, were born from necessity.  In sports, to ascend to the top, many hours of expert coaching and feedback are needed, at great cost. Unfortunately, some of the most useful tools for technique development, like 3D motion capture assessments, are prohibitively expensive and not widely available. Seeing the need for John’s own children, combined with his love of tennis, the idea for the TLM Reports were born. Using his years of professional experience and innovation in computer vision, the TLM Reports were built to address a learner’s need for constant expert feedback and guided improvement plans. The goal of the TLM Reports is to use cutting-edge AI to democratize 3D motion capture as a learning tool for individuals of all skill levels.

The TLM Reports provide the scientifically measurable goals and expert feedback needed to build expertise. Through focused targeting of specific stroke mechanics in real-time, individuals can realize the promise of perfect practice beyond just time spent with a coach. In fact, the TLM Reports help expand what you and your coach can understand and recognize about a stroke. The TLM Reports illuminate the many parts of tennis strokes so that individuals can build a more sophisticated understanding of their technique. In short, the TLM Reports have the real promise to help individuals learn and master tennis strokes more efficiently and faster than ever before.

“The hallmark of purposeful or deliberate practice is that you try to do something you cannot do — that takes you out of your comfort zone — and that you practice it over and over again, focusing on exactly how you are doing it, where you are falling short, and how you can get better.”
